Spring is finally here, and the Sunshine Coast real estate market is heating up! New “for sale” signs are popping up on lawns and the George Gibsons resort and residences project is getting closer to acquiring the final agreements needed to move towards the construction stage.
According to an update issued on the Town of Gibsons website: http://gibsons.ca/the-george “The project has moved into the detailed design stage, in preparation for construction tentatively planned for spring or summer 2017. The Town of Gibsons and Klaus Fuerniss Enterprises have agreed on the terms of a Land Exchange Agreement. The agreement spells out the steps and conditions for the exchange of a portion of Winn Road, of approx.10,000 square meters,for a new Town-owned public plaza of equal size.”
This important agreement includes a number of covenants and statutory right of ways to ensure that the public will have unrestricted access over the new waterfront walkway and give the Town rights for access to its infrastructure assets. The developer will be responsible for maintaining the new Town-owned public plaza.
The pedestrian plaza, and new Seawalk will connect the George resort hotel and the residential building, while enabling the creation of a new scenic waterfront boardwalk and waterfront restaurant. This spectacular community amenity will complement a plan for an upgraded Winegarden Park, adjacent to the George Gibsons Residences, and create a continuous walkway from the Gibsons Marina to the Gibsons harbour pier, and the heart of the village.
